For today’s corporate board, the shifting landscape of challenges and opportunities urgently calls for modern, effective skills for directors. The need for compressive, timely sustainability education for board members has never been more pressing.

On Mar. 27, Michigan Ross—in collaboration with Ceres—will convene a panel of participants from the inaugural cohort of the Building Board Expertise on Sustainability program and corporate responsibility and executive education experts to outline the latest challenges and opportunities faced in today’s ever-changing board rooms, including the evolving role of director fiduciary duty, the expanding range of corporate stakeholders, and the importance of boardroom diversity, and the important role of disclosure, as highlighted by the recent announcement of the SEC Climate Disclosure Rule.

The panel of past course participants, Ross Faculty, and Ceres experts will discuss how board sustainability education has prepared them to meet the array of challenges and opportunities they encounter.

In this session, panelists will:

• Discuss the intersection of Sustainability and business strategy and the increasing need for directors to understand and oversee the full range of impacts of climate risk on their companies as fundamental to their fiduciary duty 

• Clarify and expound upon the range of sustainability issues boards currently or will soon encounter

• Demonstrate the need for effective sustainability education for board directors, prospective directors, and those who support directors

• Present the Building Board Expertise on Sustainability program as a proven curriculum delivered on the world-class Corp U learning platform to provide course attendees with the critical board sustainability skills they seek
