Event Details

John Sabat is a Portfolio Manager at Point72's Cubist Systematic Strategies. He has been with the firm for 19 years as a PM and with the multi-manager quant business since its inception. John has been running global mid- and high-frequency equities, futures, and fixed income strategies.

John began his career at D. E. Shaw & Co. in 1995 in the international equities statistical arbitrage group and later founded and led the firm's share class arbitrage strategy. He has also worked at CIBC and HBK Investments, and has experience employing index rebalance strategies and systematizing traditional discretionary strategies.

John serves on the Board of Trustees of Education Reform Now, a non-profit that works to improve public school education, especially for low-income students and students of color. He also co-chairs their annual Take 'Em to School charity poker tournament. He was a founding board member of the non-profit public charter school Harlem Success Academy 4 and serves on the overall school network’s Success Academy Leadership Council. As a minority owner of the NBA Champion Milwaukee Bucks, John has contributed to the team’s numerous social justice and philanthropic initiatives. He is also an active member of the Advisory Council for Johns Hopkins University's Center for Talented Youth.

John serves on the Board of Directors of the startup ComedyWire and as an Advisory Committee member for Upper90, an investment company focused on venture capital debt and equity opportunities. He is also an Advisory Board Member of the Miami-based software development startup Sortium.

John holds a Master of Science degree in Statistics from New York University’s Stern School of Business where he graduated summa cum laude and received the Ernest Kurnow Award for excellence in the field of statistics. He earned his B.B.A. degree in Finance from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business where he graduated summa cum laude. He is also a CFA charterholder.
