Private Event

Last fall we offered sessions on burnout at work and perfectionism to address the needs of alumni struggling to find balance in life and work. In celebration of Women’s History Month, we invite you to join Corie Pauling, ’93, the new CEO and President of the Alumni Association, to discuss invisible labor within families with New York Times bestselling author Eve Rodsky, ’98. Rather than simply identifying the issue of unequal division of labor, join us to learn hands-on practical solutions for families and working parents with the author of “Fair Play: A Game-Changing Solution for When You Have Too Much to Do (and More Life to Live).”

“Fair Play” provides a time- and anxiety-saving system that offers couples a completely new way to divvy up domestic responsibilities. In writing her book, Rodsky interviewed more than 500 men and women from all walks of life to figure out what the invisible work in a family actually entails and how to get it all done efficiently. The results dynamically shift the conversation away from simply saying the issue of unequal labor exists to providing solutions, such as the book’s four easy-to-follow rules, 100 household tasks, and even a figurative card game you can play with your partner. “Winning” this game means rebalancing your home (and, as a result, your work) life, reigniting your relationship with your significant other, and reclaiming your “Unicorn Space” — as in, the active pursuit to develop the skills and passions that keep you interested and interesting both personally and professionally.

We invite you to read “Fair Play” and participate in the book club component of this program. You can sign up for the book club, which will be hosted on LinkedIn, when registering. As a special offer to Alumni Association members, the first 100 members have the option to receive a free copy of “Fair Play” when enrolling in the book club. Copies of “Fair Play” can be purchased herePlease be sure to log in (by clicking "Log In" in the top right corner) to view registration options exclusive to members.
