Monthly FINANCE LECTURE SERIES: How FinTech May Change Our Lives

The Ross School of Business Finance Department has launched a monthly lecture series, featuring professors at Ross as well as industry experts. The goal of the lecture series is to present interesting topics, relevant in today's world.
The second lecture, “How FinTech May Change Our Lives”, will feature Uday Rajan, the David B. Hermelin Professor of Business Administration and Professor of Finance at Ross. His research interests focus on informational and strategic issues in finance, with recent work on FinTech competition in payments.
Uday Rajan's talk will cover the role of FinTech for consumers: financial inclusion (stock market participation/RobinHood; M-pesa in Kenya), payment technologies (Venmo, Zelle, use of QR codes in China); role of algorithms (reliance on FICO credit scores and the financial crisis; questions of efficiency vs. fairness); and privacy issues (GDPR in Europe).
