Haas was born in 1936 in Spring Green Wisconsin. He earned a bachelors degree from the University of Wisconsin and an MFA from the University of Minnesota in 1964. He emerged on the art scene in the 1970’s as part of the “New Realism” movement. Haas is one of the leading architectural muralists and is best known for his trompe l’oeil paintings. His work ranges from 19th century cast iron industrial buildings to gleaming sky scrapers. He currently lives and works in New York City.
