About the Speaker:

Prior to life at Sweet Revenge®, owner/founder Marlo Scott, worked for The Man at some of NYC’s largest media companies.  During her fond whipping post years, she developed a keen understanding of how to leverage signature brands to create new customer experiences including the nationwide roll-out of CNBC News stores in airports, a live investor education program called CNBC University, and the re-invention of “Fortune’s 100 Best Companies To Work For” branded merchandise for business clients.  She is thankful that, with the exception of two bosses in all those years (CG and LR, you know who you are!), she had the good fortune of working for poor management because that inspired her how not to be and what not to want out of life.

For 18 months on weekends and at night, when she wasn’t at the office, she did “product development”, baking batch after batch of cupcakes, conducting due diligence and writing the business plan.  Her friends were awesome guinea pigs/focus groups.

In a stroke of utter luck, she was laid off in 2007. She was done with The Man, and she set out to have some fun.  Using her business development and management experience, she transformed her love for cupcakes, travel, adventure, and vacationing into Sweet Revenge®. She is grateful everyday for her friends and family and the opportunity to live the dream. She is a firm believer that the safest bet is on oneself and the sweetest revenge is just to be happy.

Marlo shares the learnings from her entrepreneurial journey by teaching small business classes at Sweet Revenge®, coaching fellow entrepreneurs and providing consulting services. She is a keynote speaker. She has appeared on numerous tv shows including Martha Stewart, Throwdown with Bobby Flay, The Today Show with Kathie Lee & Hoda, BBC, and Fox News. She has also been the cover of Entrepreneur Magazine, profiled in the Wall Street Journal, recognized as an industry innovator in Draft Magazine, and covered by NY Daily News, Cake Central, & Blackbook Magazine among many others.
