A symposium I co-organized titled “A Role for Organizations in Sustainable Peace” at the 2005 National Academy of Management Meetings, August 7-10, 2005, Hawaii. It was selected to be an All-Academy symposium, a special honor for a small number of sessions that are expected to have broad interest among Academy members. Cindy Shipani and Tim Fort also presented a paper as part of the session.

Presented two other papers at the same meetings: (1) “An empirical examination of thriving at work,” presented with Marlys Christianson, Kathleen Sutcliffe and Adam Grant. (2) “Narratives of Thriving,” presented with Scott Sonenshein, Jane Dutton, Adam Grant and Kathleen Sutcliffe.

Awards Received:

The Scholarly Achievement Committee for the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management selected one article as a finalist for the single best HR article published in 2004: Perceived control as an antidote to the negative effects of layoffs on survivor’s organizational commitment and job performance. Published in Administrative Science Quarterly.
