Krystocek works in a variety of mediums, including intricate wax floral relief carvings, watercolors of exotic fowl adorned with real feathers and sculptural paper cut-outs using thin rice paper. Both carvings and paper cut-outs reflect traditional craftsmanship, Dutch still-life paintings, botanicals, and Victorian cameos.

Jolynn Krysotsek’s paper works are constructed from multiple layers of paper which create depth, shadow, and a look of deep vegetation. Her work is extremely subtle, “Because it’s on the wall, the piece doesn’t have a physical impact on the space. It’s like a whisper in the space. The viewer’s experience changes with the time of day and changes in light. The density of its form is created by light and shadow.”
