The weather in Ann Arbor in early October can be lovely, with the sun setting the fall foliage
colors on fire, but also unpredictable. The average
temperature ranges from the low 60s (F) during the day to the
low 40s in the evening. Due to
the Great Lakes that surround the state, the southeast Michigan
area sometimes experiences very strong winds at this time
of year, reaching as high as 60 miles per hour on occasion. But
you know what they say about Michigan:
“If you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute!”

For outdoor activities, please plan to dress in layers and bring a windbreaker and winter jacket or coat. In the likelihood it may rain, plan to pack an umbrella
or other waterproof gear. Also, it is wise to bring boots and other cold-weather articles

For most Reunion events, business-casual attire
is recommended. For the evening events for the 20, 25 and 50-year classes, semi-formal
or business attire is
appropriate. Evening events for the 5-year and 10-year Reunions
are casual. For the Tailgate Party and Football Game, casual,
clothing is best (maize and blue is recommended, and Ross
School of Business merchandise preferred!).
There are events all over the campus and
city, as well as other cultural and historic sites,
restaurants, museums, and venues to see while you're here; therefore, don’t forget your comfortable walking
shoes. Although there is public transportation and taxi service, parking is always scarce in the city — you are likely to have a short
walk no matter where you are going!

UM Smoking Ban
As part of the University of Michigan’s ongoing effort to create a healthier environment for its faculty, staff and students, all three campuses — Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint — are smoke-free, as of July 1, 2012. This extends the smoke-free environment of U-M buildings to the campus grounds.
Smoking is not prohibited on sidewalks adjacent to public thoroughfares on the Ann Arbor campuses.
