The Nonprofit Board Forum is a great program for anyone exploring or currently serving on a nonprofit board. The Forum is focused on improving the governance of nonprofit institutions. It aims to be a resource for sharing opportunities & information on best practices and introducing qualified, interested board candidates to outstanding organizations.
Non-alumni and students are welcome to attend. Don't miss out on this opportunity!
2018 Board Forum Program:
Welcome reception with coffee, tea, and a selection of pastries, muffins and scones.
Two simultaneous tracks of morning presentations:
- Core - A nonprofit governance overview covering the board member’s role and responsibilities. A workshop for those new to a board or interested in serving on a nonprofit board. Facilitated by Tom Williams, Nonprofit Management Consultant with the Nonprofit Network.
- Focused – Presentations by experts on best practices for boards in specific areas such as fundraising, hiring an executive director and developing a board. Presenters include:
- Michelle Davis, Director of Development, Neurosciences, University of Michigan
- Bill Weatherston, Vice President, Hohauser & Associates
- Lisa Lennon Pascoe, FACHE, Executive Director Governance, Sparrow Health System
There will also be a catered Box Lunch a great opportunity to network and exchange ideas with fellow attendees.
Boxed lunch options include:
- Turkey Avocado Croissant
- Club Sandwich on Italian Bread
- Caprese Wrap with fresh mozzarella
- Grilled Chicken Salad
Two simultaneous afternoon sessions including sessions on accelerating board performance and the basics of understanding nonprofit finances. Presenters:

- Tom Williams, Nonprofit Management Consultant, Nonprofit Network
Cost: $45 to attend all sessions with Networking Lunch included
