Join us April 21-23, 2025 in Ann Arbor!

We are thrilled to announce registration is now open for the Conference on Sustainable Food Procurement by Institutions, taking place April 21-23, 2025, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. This year’s event will bring together professionals from across the higher education foodservice community, including procurement specialists, dining directors, suppliers, nonprofit organizations, academics, and students. This is a great event for suppliers looking to further their collaboration with university customers, suppliers considering supporting university customers, researchers seeking to share their latest findings on sustainable procurement, universities and other institutions seeking to further foster their relationships with suppliers, and students or current professionals considering procurement as a future career opportunity. The conference will offer valuable education and hands-on engagement for attendees of all levels of experience with sustainable procurement. This year’s event will also include an all-new pre-conference kickoff event on April 21st featuring a student case competition and networking career fair. 

Our goal for the conference is to foster community building to further strengthen the network of higher education foodservice/procurement professionals, suppliers, researchers, and partner organizations. We encourage foodservice professionals and students from all universities, as well as institutional foodservice providers, to attend and participate in this collaborative effort. We aim to provide educational experiences through interactive, hands-on workshops that offer practical insights into sustainable procurement. The conference will emphasize engagement, creating a collaborative space where participants can address sustainability challenges and develop solutions together. We are also committed to supporting career exploration, giving students and current professionals the chance to explore and pursue opportunities in procurement. The Conference on Sustainable Food Procurement by Institutions is being hosted by the University of Michigan's MDining and Procurement Services team with thought partnership provided by the Impact Collective Group, President's Advisory Committee on Labor Standards and Human Rights, Tauber Institute for Global Operations, Frederick A & Barbara M Erb Institute, and the Midwest Sustainable Food Procurement Coalition. The conference is co-chaired by recent graduates and University of Michigan Dining Sustainability team members: Ashley "Ash" Martinez (MBA/MS 2024) and Lars Panquin (MS 2024).
