New Wireless Network Beginning
August 1st

A new, improved
wireless network is now available. The new network is
based on the 802.11n standard.
You will see 3
different wireless names (SSIDs)
that you can connect to:
- RossWireless
- RossWirelessClassic
- RossWirelessGuest
Our new 802.11n wireless network supports a more unified and seamless network
environment by combining the mobility of wireless with the performance and
security of a traditional wired network.
Visit our
Network page to learn more and find complete
instructions to set up your laptop.
Shadow Copy
is Available August 4th
Certain network file shares (S: and U:
drives, R:\Web) have a service to allow you to access prior versions of your
network files. This service is based on a Microsoft Windows feature called
Shadow Copy. It periodically creates copies of files as you work so you can
retrieve versions of a document you may have accidentally deleted or
overwritten. We schedule Shadow Copies to be created every three hours during
the business day and once at night. That is five network file snapshots per day
to better protect your important work! Shadow Copy history will be retained for
up to two weeks.
Visit the
Faculty and Staff Access section of our
Network page to learn more.
Please Remove Scanned Files from
Network Storage
On the R: drive there is a folder called
NetScan, and within NetScan there are a number of subfolders dedicated to
different departments within the school. These folders are designated to
automatically receive images of scanned documents from various networked
departmental scanners. NetScan is used for
temporary storage only.
Be sure to go to your departmental
subfolder in R:\NetScan and move any files that you want to keep to a permanent location or
simply delete them if they are no longer needed. All files older than one week
are automatically deleted from the NetScan folder
