Need Help with Our Printers? |
|
 |
Our lab assistants
maintain printer toner and paper and keep the lab computers up and
running.
These tips will help you conserve
your printing allocation:
- Use Print-Preview. Carefully examine your settings and layout.
- Only print the actual page range you need.
- If you need to print a large number of pages or copies, be sure to print a
test copy first to check the quality of the printer (toner, etc.).
- Print double sided whenever possible - this
will cut your paper consumption in half. For an individual this may not
seem like much, but it adds up - halving 2,000,000 copies to 1,000,000 copies
in the lab is significant! Change from duplex to single sided and back
again by first selecting your printer then clicking on the Properties button.
Find the duplex setting and choose Flip on Long Edge to orient pages to flip
like a book. Choose None only when you really need single-sided printing.
This habit is particularly useful when printing out web pages, some of which
can be quite long.
- Print PowerPoint drafts as handouts that are six to a page - this will cut
your paper consumption by 600%!
