The Business School has 13 classrooms with standardized equipment, an innovative e-Classroom, and a fully equipped distance learning center for video-conferencing.

  Classroom Computer and Equipment

The classrooms are all equipped with a permanent PC computer at the instructor's desk, digital video projector, VCR, document camera, ceiling mounted stereo speakers, wireless mouse and audio/video controls.

Classroom equipment includes

  • A computer running Windows XP (including a soundcard, 250 Zip drive, CD player, and a wireless mouse in addition to the standard mouse) networked with high speed Ethernet access.

  • Easy to use touch panel control on Instructor Desk

  • A digital projector and screen with classroom computer projection and laptop hookup

  • AV rack with DVD, VCR and sound system with ceiling mounted stereo speakers

  • Traditional transparency projector

  • Document camera

  • Microphone sound system and audio recording capabilities through touch panel

  • Wireless Internet access for student laptops

To reserve a classroom and equipment, contact the Facilities office.

Classroom Software

The classroom computer software suite matches the current lab software.  Software requests should be requested the semester prior, with enough time to obtain licensing, installation, testing for conflicts, etc.  Software can be installed temporarily by individuals logged in with a Business School login, but please note the machines are regularly re-imaged and any changes removed.

Classroom Computer Login

The classroom computer on the instructor's desk is connected to the Internet via an Ethernet connection.  Login is required:

Students log into the Kerberos realm (the umich.edu domain) with their uniqname and password.

Faculty and staff may log into the Kerberos realm with their Kerberos password, or by choosing the BUS domain from the dropdown login box with their Business School password to access individual resources on the Business School network (private folders and files, etc.).

  Laptops in the Classroom

See the Laptop section for more information for faculty.

Infrastructure

Our wireless network provides Internet access for laptops in all classrooms and group study rooms.  A registered, configured wireless card (PDF) is required.

All major classrooms have Ethernet and power connections at the seats for laptop users. Tiered classrooms have the connections at the seats and flat classrooms have the connections in the floor.  An Ethernet cable is required.

Projection

To project a laptop: Connect the cable in the instructor's desk to the display port and use the Crestron touch screen control to select the laptop display.  Most laptops require a keyboard command, such as Function + F8 for Dell laptops, to send the display signal through the display cable.  The keyboard command will vary by laptop make and model.

  How to Reserve a Classroom

Classroom reservations, equipment and audio/visual reservations are handled by emailing or calling the Facilities Office, 764-1364.

The only exception is the e-classroom.  Please follow the instructions on the e-classroom schedule page to reserve.
