Technology and Teamwork

The Ross School of Business emphasizes Action Based Learning - real business world simulations and experiences plus teamwork.

Busy schedules can make teamwork a challenge.  Computing Services offers many technologies to make collaborating and meeting with your teams simple.

   Wireless Network

The Business School has one of the largest wireless networks on the campus of the University of Michigan which provides our students with wireless Internet access throughout our buildings.

Complete information can be found on our Wireless page.

   Live Communication Server

Instant Messaging, commonly referred to as ‘IM’, is a real-time collaboration tool that can include text chat, whiteboard, file transfer, application sharing, voice and video. IM enables you to have real-time conversations with one or more individuals.

The IM client used with our Live Communication Server (LCS) is MS Office Communicator 2005. Use Communication to not only chat, but instantly share documents, work together within an application and brainstorm with a shared whiteboard. With Communicator, you no longer have to schedule a meeting or wait for a return email.

Using this IM program will makes it a snap for students to work remotely with team members.

Learn more at our LCS page.

   TeamSpot Collaboration Rooms

TeamSpot is a new collaborative technology from Tidebreak allowing team members to instantly work together on documents by actually linking their computers.

The TeamSpot Collaboration Rooms are located in the Kresge Library in K2341 through K2346.  These rooms can be reserved through the Student Room Reservation system.

Download the TeamSpot handout and the Getting Started guide for Windows and Macintosh.  Then reserve a room to work with your team.

   Mobile Applications

Tired of having to turn to your laptop for even the simplest things, like reserving a group study room?  Why not use your SmartPhone?

We are developing mobile applications to make it possible for you to use your SmartPhone to access various tools, such as room reservations.
