Co-Creation: How Individuals, Stakeholders,
and Enterprises Can Mutually Expand Value and
Freedoms
Venkat Ramaswamy, Hallman Fellow of
Electronic Business; professor of Marketing
Ramaswamy collaborated with Prahalad on several
articles and the award-winning book, The Future
of Competition. He continues to explore
co-creation (a term he coined with Prahalad) in his
new book, The Power of Co-Creation.
Ramaswamy will discuss how the co-creation paradigm
is redefining organizations' engagement with
customers, employees, suppliers, partners, and other
stakeholders in the enterprise processes of value
creation. Such engagement enables new sources of
business innovation and value creation. It also
harnesses creativity based on enriched experiences
in order to formulate breakthrough strategies;
design compelling products, services, solutions, and
business models; and transform management processes.
Ultimately, as Ramaswamy will discuss, co-creation
enables the expansion of human well-being and
freedoms.

Next Generation Base of the Pyramid:
Fortune-Creating with the Poor
Ted London, senior research fellow and
director, Base of the Pyramid Initiative;
adjunct assistant professor of business
administration
Due in part to Prahalad’s visionary work,
leaders in the corporate, nonprofit, and
development sectors increasing see the base of the pyramid (BoP)—that
is, the four billion poorest people—as a market that business
could serve more effectively. Despite the
promise of generating both economic and societal
returns, building successful BoP ventures
remains a challenge. Many of the initial
initiatives did not scale, and some have failed.
London will discuss the crucial lessons that
have been learned and how
innovators are now succeeding with the next
generation of business strategies for the BoP.

Business Model Innovation
M.S. Krishnan, Joseph Handelman
Professor of Business Information Technology
Krishnan co-authored The New Age of
Innovation: Driving Co-Created Value Through Global
Networks with Prahalad. In this session, he will explore how
businesses across industries are being transformed
by disruptive trends such as ubiquitous
connectivity, digitization of business, availability
of global talent, social media, and informed and
empowered customers. A key to this
business transformation is connecting a strategy of
innovation to execution. Learn steps organizations can take to enable this
transformation and value creation through
innovation. Krishnan will explore how the
structure of business models must change to respond
to market forces; the implications for
organizational capabilities; the importance of
business processes, technology and talent; and the
role of vendors and partners in this transformation
process.
