The Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan
The Ross School represents a mix of
degrees and specialty areas as rich as that of any business school in
the world. This richness is enhanced by our four institutes and the
action-based learning opportunities provided by our Action Learning
Center. Students who graduate with a degree from Ross offer recruiters
an unrivaled range of experience and expertise.
Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) –
Currently ranked eighth by Business Week, the Ross BBA Program
represents one of the most sought-after undergraduate business degrees
anywhere. Most students spend their freshman year in the University’s
College of Literature, Science and the Arts before applying to Ross. A
select number of students are admitted directly from high school.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) –
The
Ross School offers several options for candidates to earn a master’s of
business administration. Each is centered on action-based learning, an
approach to business education that goes beyond studying cases. By
building bridges between the classroom experience and real
organizational settings, Ross MBAs learn leadership not just by example,
but by practice as well.
Full-time MBA: Currently ranked eighth by Business Week,
the Full-time MBA Program offers a rigorous, two-year curriculum. The
program attracts students with significant prior academic and career
accomplishments. The median age is 29 with an average of 5 years
of work experience.
Part-time MBA: Each of our
part-time formats has its own scheduling and academic benefits. Both
follow the same curriculum as the Full-time Program and conclude with
the same MBA degree valued all over the world.
Evening Format – Students in the Evening Format have an average of 6
years of work experience and tremendous flexibility to customize the
curriculum to meet their needs and schedules. They take an average
of four years to complete their degree while working full-time. As their
schedules permit, Evening students also may take classes during the day
and participate in extracurricular activities with the full-time
students.
Weekend Format – The Weekend Format is taught in a cohort-driven
model that includes some distance learning to complement on-campus
classes in Ann Arbor every other weekend. It is designed to allow
students to work full time while completing the degree in an intensive
two years.
Executive MBA (EMBA) – EMBAs participate in a very selective cohort
of professionals with an average of 12 years of experience before they
join our program. Many have been chosen by their current employers to
receive this intensive education as high potential executives within
their own organizations. The program takes two years to complete, with
students coming to Ann Arbor once a month.
Master of Accounting (MAcc) –
MAcc graduates generally complete the one-year program
directly after their undergraduate program. Students’ primary emphasis
is on the completion of the required master’s-level coursework to sit
for the Certified Public Accountants’ Examination.
Master of Financial Engineering (MFE) –
MFE students generally enroll in this program directly after completion of
their undergraduate degree. The MFE program is housed in University of Michigan’s
College of Engineering and taught by both Ross and engineering faculty
because of its intensive level of financial analysis and advanced
mathematics.
Master of Supply Chain Management (MSCM) –
MSCM students have an average of 4 to 6 years of
work experience before
joining our one-year program which develops students to be the next
generation of MSCM leaders. MSCM students begin their studies at
Ross during the month of January and graduate in December, completing
their 30-credit hour Masters degree. Students spend the summer in
an in-depth operations internship with a corporate sponsor through U-M’s
Tauber Institute for Global Operations.
Master of Entrepreneurship (MsE) –
The graduate program in entrepreneurship is an intensive, twelve-month program that leads to a Master of Entrepreneurship (MsE) degree. The program begins in August with a one-week technology and business boot camp (non-credit bearing), followed by 36 credit hours of coursework, including a two-semester practicum sequence and a venture launch opportunity. Students take courses during the fall and winter academic semesters, and then spend the summer working on the launch of a new venture. The program is technology-focused. Applicants may propose their own idea for a technology-based venture, or they may work with the University of Michigan Office of Technology Transfer to assess the commercial viability of University-owned technology.
Institutes at the Ross School
In addition to completing the formal
degree program, Ross students may participate in activities sponsored by
one or more of the institutes based at the Ross School. Some students
who participate in such institute programs also will earn dual degrees
with another U-M school or college.
-
Frederick A. and Barbara M. Erb Institute for Global Sustainable
Enterprise (Erb)-
Erb is a partnership between the Ross School and the School of
Natural Resources and Environment. Erb students earn a dual MBA and
Master of Science. They are trained in deploying collaborative
approaches to help business, government, and civil society achieve
meaningful progress toward sustainability.
