I am currently involved in two projects in the POS area. The first is a research study of the experiences of global senior executives attending the four-week Columbia Senior Executive Program. This project, drawing on qualitative and quantitative data collected before, during and after the program, examines how an effective learning environment can be created in the classroom and what gets transferred back into the participants’ organizations after the program. In addition, we are also examining the nature of transformational experiences of the participants during the program, looking at the themes and characteristics of these experiences.

The second project is a reflection on what I, and my colleagues, am calling “meaningful leadership.” This project, currently in its infancy, focuses on the processes and dynamics whereby leaders can create meaning for others. In addition, we are exploring the energy dynamics infused in the relationships between leaders and their followers. We are looking at these issues within the context of “domestic” leadership as well as “global” leadership, a related area of interest.
