I have been interested in resilience from both a research and teaching perspective.
On the research side I have been working to understand what organizational resilience
looks like in environments where many small jolts are happening on a regular basis.
I have looked at newsrooms as a context for this exploratory research. On the teaching
side, I have been working on a case study that I have used in the classroom on tennis
player James Blake. Blake’s comeback from a broken neck and other setbacks to reach
a career-high ranking is remarkable. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn
from colleagues who are focused on the topic of resilience and other streams of POS
research. Specifically, I would like to learn more about how resilience is being studied
in various field settings. Additionally, I have collaborated with Gretchen Spreitzer
and University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman on a book chapter entitled
“Positive Strategic Leadership.” The chapter brings a POS lens to the research on
strategic leadership.
