The Class of 2006's Generous Legacy

5/9/2006 --

Ross graduates pledge more than $500,000 to benefit the school and prospective students.

ANN ARBOR, Mich.—The 2006 class gifts from Stephen M. Ross School of Business students were presented to Dean Robert Dolan in the Executive Residence during a dean's reception for graduates and their guests as part of commencement day celebrations.

Billy Robins, MBA '06, presented a $264,111 check to Dean Dolan on behalf of the BBA, MBA, Evening MBA and Master of Accounting (MAcc) students. Ninety-five percent of MBA students donated to the class gift program this year. The BBA class of '06 had its highest participation rate since 1991.

"This is a really exciting time to be part of the Ross School with the Wall Street Journal No. 1 ranking, the new building and the very generous donation from Stephen Ross," Robins said.

"It's a fabulous monetary gift and gives us great energy moving forward," Dolan added.

The BBA and MBA class gifts will be used to equip exercise classrooms in the state-of-the-art fitness center planned for the new Ross School building. Construction of the new facility is expected to be complete in 2008.

The MAcc class gift will go to MAcc Scholarship Assistance to help fund future MAcc students.

The Evening MBA class gift will be used to renovate and beautify the Commerce Park Lounge with new carpet, lounge chairs, sofas, appliances, tables, chairs and art work.

Executive MBA students pledged $303,916 to be divided up between the Endowed Speaker Series, the Endowed ExecMAP Fund and the Alumni Fund. The Endowed Speaker Series brings top-notch business leaders and academicians to speak to Executive MBA students and alumni. The ExecMAP program supports domestic and international non-profit projects. The Alumni Fund is used to sponsor alumni activities and enrich the overall EMBA program.

The Global MBA program pledged $3,000, which will be used to purchase a work of art.

The 2006 class gift core committee was:

  • MBA: William Robins and Kristine Royer
  • BBA: Katherine Fedele
  • MAcc: Todd Sarbaugh and Nancy Stano
  • Executive MBA: David Mengebier, Terri Schultz and Linda Danek
