Ross professor ends 2005 atop two prestigious rankings.
ANN ARBOR, Mich.—Professor C. K. Prahalad earned the third spot on Suntop Media's 2005 "Thinkers 50" list, just behind Harvard strategy specialist, Michael Porter, and Microsoft founder, Bill Gates.
The global ranking of business leaders is based on the votes of 1,200 business people, consultants, academics, MBA students and visitors to the project's Web site.
Other business gurus that made the list include Tom Peters (4), Jack Welch (5), Richard Branson (11) and Stephen Covey (18).
A training and consulting company, Suntop Media was founded in 1999 by Stuart Crainer and Des Dearlove—contributing editors to Strategy + Business magazine, which recently named Prahalad's, "The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid: Eradicating Poverty through Profits," one of the top business books of 2005.
Prahalad, the Paul and Ruth McCracken Distinguished University Professor of Corporate Strategy, is a globally recognized business consultant whose client list includes AT&T, Cargill, Citicorp, Oracle, TRW and Unilever. His research focuses chiefly on next practices, corporate strategy and the role of top management in diversified multinational corporations. His current work addresses a complex emerging market, the world's poor and the innovative business models that will help end world poverty.
