ANN ARBOR, Mich. Business Week magazine ranks "The Future of Competition: Co-creating Unique Value with Customers" by C.K. Prahalad and Venkat Ramaswamy among the Top Ten business books of 2004.
In the book, the authors discuss emerging "next practices" in value creation, including how companies must learn to co-create unique value with their customers. The focus of innovation must shift from products and services to experience environments with which individuals can interact to co-construct experiences. It presents a detailed view of the new functional, organizational infrastructure and governance capabilities required to foster personalized co-creation experiences, a source of value for consumers and companies alike.
The book also was named one of the best strategy business books in Strategy + Business magazine, which also ranked Robert Quinn's "Building the Bridge as You Walk on It: A Guide for Leading Change" among the top change management books for 2004. In his book, Quinn identifies eight practices for achieving the personal transformation that takes an individual from a "normal" to a "fundamental" state of leadership.
Prahalad's "The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid: Eradicating Poverty Through Profits" made two Top Ten lists including the Economist and Barnes & Noble and was named the best business book of 2004 by both Fast Company and Amazon.
