ANN ARBOR, Mich.— J. Ira Harris, BBA '59, is a legend in the mergers and acquisitions world. While at Salomon Brothers and Lazard, he worked on some of the biggest deals in corporate history, including Primerica, Firestone-Bridgestone, RJR Nabisco, and Quaker Oats-Snapple. In this video interview with Dividend's Terry Kosdrosky, Harris reflects on that era and how the industry learned some valuable lessons from the excesses. He also discusses his ongoing engagement with Ross and the University, his take on the economy, and thoughts on receiving an honorary Doctor of Laws degree at the 2012 Commencement.
Harris is chairman of financial advisory firm J.I. Harris & Associates. His gift led to the naming of the J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Dean's Suite at Ross.
