U-M to Host Intercollegiate Stock Pitch Competition
Competition will feature teams from top b-schools and panel discussions with business leaders.
More than a dozen top undergraduate business schools across the nation will compete in the Michigan Interactive Investments Intercollegiate Stock Pitch Competition, a student-led initiative designed to serve as the premier forum for undergraduate students to exchange market insights and learn from industry professionals.
The two-day stock-pitch competition will take place March 20-21 and be judged by leading market experts from Barclays Capital; JPMorgan; Loomis, Sayles & Co.; NorthPointe Capital; Optiver; and SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. The winners will receive a cash prize of $3,000.
In addition to the competition, the conference will feature BP's commodity trading simulation, panel discussions and talks by Michael Gelband of Millennium Management; Dwight Cass, capital markets editor for Breakingviews; Jack McHugh of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy; Robert Van Order, professor of finance at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business; Marina Whitman, professor of business administration and public policy at the Ross School and the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy; Mark Senn, BP Global gasoline trading manager; and Rick Bunch, managing director of the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise. They will discuss issues affecting business today, including corporate social responsibility and the impact of Obama administration policies on capital markets.

Keynote Speech: Michael Gelband

Mr. Gelband is the current Global Head of Fixed Income for Millennium
Management and the former Global Head of Fixed Income and Capital
Markets for Lehman Brothers.
He will be speaking about the events contributing to the current
economic crisis, and will comment on the future of the financial industry.
Capital Markets Panel
6:00 PM, Blau Auditorium
A panel consisting of industry professionals, moderated by Ross faculty,
will discuss how President Obama’s new policies will affect capital markets.

Final Round of Stock Pitch Competition

Watch four teams from top universities around the country present an
investment strategy to a panel of financial industry professionals. The
winner will receive a grand prize of $3,000.
