Ross MBAs take National Prize in Kearney Competition
12/2/2008 --
Team Synergy now prepares for global contest.
ANN ARBOR, Mich.—A team of Ross MBAs won the national finals of the A.T. Kearney Global Prize in Chicago on Nov. 15. Team Synergy, consisting of first-year students Tamasin Ford, Abhishek Katiyar, Alex Melnyk, and Raul Pero, will now compete for the global prize against the European champions via video conference Dec. 5.
Team Synergy beat 14 other Ross teams to represent the school at the national finals. They emerged victorious over teams from Columbia, Wharton, Chicago/Booth, Kellogg, and Tepper. It's the second time Ross has won the national finals, making it one of two schools to become a repeat champion. Ross last took home the title in 2001.
The case in the competition revolved around a wind tower manufacturer that recently had been purchased by a private equity firm. Members of Team Synergy received a cash prize and were guaranteed closed-list interviews with A.T. Kearney.
