John Denniston to Speak at Ross Commencement
Innovative venture capitalist embraces green technologies and public policy innovations.
ANN ARBOR, Mich.—John Denniston, a partner with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers of Menlo Park, Calif., will present the keynote speech at the Ross School of Business Spring Commencement April 25.
Ceremonies begin at 5 p.m. at Crisler Arena.
Denniston is a leader in KPCB's Greentech Innovation Network, which brings businesspeople, scholars, and policymakers together to pursue effective green technologies and public policy innovations. KPCB recently formed an alliance with Generation Investment Management, a relationship that brought Generation's chairman, Al Gore, into KPCB as a partner. Denniston was part of the team that conceptualized and launched KPCB's Greentech Investment Initiative.
"John Denniston has a wealth of experience at the intersection where finance, technology and sustainability meet the demands of successful business development. That makes him, in my view, a particularly appropriate speaker for our community," says Ross School Dean Robert Dolan. "His work is about finding opportunity in some of the greatest challenges facing the planet. It is about using the creative power of business to develop innovative solutions to complex problems that affect us all. That kind of work, it seems to me, is the kind of work that we, as a School, hope and expect our leaders will embrace."
Denniston is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and is an active alumnus of the University.
