Management of Innovations in Global Operations
Ross School Professor C.K. Prahalad and former Gov. John Engler will headline series of top speakers at Tauber Institute conference.
ANN ARBOR, Mich.—Former Michigan Gov. John Engler and renowned management guru C.K. Prahalad will deliver keynote speeches at a University of Michigan conference on "Management of Innovations in Global Operations" Dec. 7-8.
Organized by the Tauber Institute for Global Operations and the Operations Management Club at the Ross School of Business and College of Engineering, the conference will address current innovations and trends in modern-day global operations management.
Other speakers include: Thomas McMillan, executive director of Global Logistics, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain at General Motors; Mark Matossian, manufacturing program manager at Google; Charles Holland, vice president of engineering at UPS; Chris Ostrander, general manager of the Fuel Emissions Controls and Performance Products Division at Eaton; Kevin Harrington, director of manufacturing business operations at Cisco Systems Inc.; and William Lovejoy, professor and chair of operations management science at the Ross School of Business.
Engler is now president of the National Association of Manufacturers, the largest industry trade group in America, representing small and large manufacturers in every industrial sector. Prahalad, the Paul and Ruth McCracken Distinguished University Professor at the Ross School of Business, is a one of the world's top experts on corporate strategy and innovation and author of several best-selling books on globalization, competition and the eradication of poverty.
In addition to a series of speakers, the conference will feature an international case competition open to MBA students and graduate engineers, a career networking session with several manufacturing companies, a product display from the U-M's highly regarded Integrated Product Development course, and presentations by Tauber Institute students on team projects completed at various companies last summer.
