Club Events:  Dean DeRue Comes to Denver - registration is now closed, but walk-up registration will be available

  • Timing:  Thursday, April 12, 6-8 pm
  • Location:  Le Meridien (1475 California St, Denver, CO 80202)
  • Overview:
    • Join alumni, featured guests, and Dean Scott DeRue as they come together to sound off on a variety of hot topics in business. This event will be an incredible opportunity to network and engage with fellow alumni and Ross staff.
    • Remarks will begin at 6:30 pm. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served. Business attire is suggested.

Club Events:  “Ross First Thursdays” Monthly Networking (first in our new series)

  • Timing:  Thursday, May 3, 5:30-8 pm AND Thursday, June 7, 5:30-8 pm
  • Location:  Public School 303 (1959 16th St, Denver, CO 80202)
  • Overview:
    • We are experimenting with a new concept this year… a monthly “first Thursdays” networking event, which will be at the same time and place each month
    • The goal:  meet and reconnect with Ross grads
    • Please join us as we get this series kicked off!

Annual Board Elections

  • Overview:
    • Starting this year, the club board will formally elect two positions:  club president and Denver Business Series representative
    • Any Ross alum is eligible to run; a short application will be available closer to elections
    • We also welcome interested alums to join the board as at-large members (basic requirements are to join monthly meetings and run 1-2 annual events)

    • Applications due in May, board votes in June, elected members are in place on July 1

        Overview:
        • Join DBS and Dr. Robert J. Swieringa – Dean Emeritus and Professor Emeritus from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management – for an evening of networking and learning about Working with Boards of Directors April 25, 2018.
        • Bob will be sharing the expertise and experience from his storied career Working with Boards of Directors.  Highlights are long tenures on three of the most famous business boards – General Electric (GE), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAT).  He is still active in many areas including as a member of the Board of Managers of the Partners Group Private Equity Fund.
        • An outstanding teacher and lecturer, Swieringa won the Justice Foundation Award for Outstanding Teaching at Cornell and has received numerous awards and honors in recognition of his scholarly and professional work.
        • Format for the evening will be designed to be educational and interactive, with ample opportunity for discussion and Q&A about:
          • Types and Functions
          • Committees and Legal Duties
          • Considerations for Serving
        • If you are on, building, joining, or presenting to a Board of Directors – or just interested in learning new things and meeting new people – you won’t want to miss.
