MBA Immersions

RLI Immersions are high-impact, action-based programs for students in the Stephen M. Ross School of Business. We offer two during each year of the MBA experience.
 


Impact Challenge

August 26-29, 2013: This 4-day, high-intensity competition is one of the first experiences for all 450 first-year MBA students. Students work around the clock in teams to accomplish a seemingly impossible goal that adds value in Detroit. Along the way, they receive specialty training and engage with leading experts and practitioners. Guided by our world-class faculty, they reflect on their experiences to learn lessons about exercising influence without authority, organizing for innovation, and leveraging business as a positive force in communities. The Impact Challenge is offered in partnership with Ross Design+Business and Revitalization & Business.
 


Crisis Challenge

January 16-17, 2014: This 2-day, fast-changing crisis simulation is a focal point of the first-year Winter term. Students engage with crisis management experts, receive specialty training, and participate in a large-scale preliminary competition -- all in advance of the main event. During the final competition, students test their ability to strategize through extreme turbulence, think on their feet, and demonstrate poise under pressure. Along the way, they receive individualized feedback from business leaders, communication coaches, and our expert faculty. The Crisis Challenge is offered in partnership with Ross Net Impact.



Story Lab

September 8, 2013: This half-day program introduces second-year MBA students to the power of story. Students reflect on their lives, careers, and first year at Ross, focusing on their success and failure narratives. Guided by expert facilitators, students learn to craft a story that clarifies their values and deliver it to peers. They also workshop listening and feedback skills. Along the way, they explore their passions and personal strengths and weaknesses, and learn to leverage the power of story for self-development and organizational leadership.
 


Legacy Lab

Date TBA: This half-day program serves as an RLI capstone for MBA students. Guided by Ross faculty, students explore their core values and reflect on abundant opportunities to make a positive difference in businesses, communities, and the lives of others. Finally, they action plan their final 100 days at Ross and first 100 days back in the workforce. They begin to answer the questions, "how will I invest my time and energy for maximum impact," and "how can I begin laying the foundation for a legacy that is consistent with my values?" This program is offered in partnership with Ross 100/100.
