If you are a Ross School of Business student, faculty or staff member, most of our databases are available for you to access from your home, office, or from any Internet connection. In order to use these databases outside the Business School, you will need to log in with your uniqname and kerberos password.
Kresge Library contracts with vendors to allow faculty, students, and staff to use these web subscription databases for educational, personal and non-commercial purposes. As part of the agreement, both copyright and contract law apply. According to the "fair use" clauses of U.S. copyright law, you may cite short excerpts in papers and reports for classroom and other academic uses if you also cite the source of the information (e.g. journal article). You may not use entire works for this purpose.
This work around is for database access errors that return a '404 Page Not Found' error. This method requires that you modify the URL on the error screen.
The URL on the error page should look similar to this: (this example is Marketline)
http://lib.bus.umich.edu/validate/http://0-library.marketlineinfo.com.lib.bus.umich.edu/library/Default.aspx
Erase everything up to the second 'http', so the new URL looks like this:
http://0-library.marketlineinfo.com.lib.bus.umich.edu/library/Default.aspx
You will be asked for your last name and library card number from the back of your MCard. Once you successfully authenicate, you will be passed on to the database.
If you are still having problems email the details to the Kresge Help Desk at kbalhepldesk@umich.edu.
If you are a current Ross faculty, staff or student and are denied access to our resources, please hit your browser's Back button and try again. If you continue to have difficulty, please contact us at kresge_library@umich.edu.
