COLLECTIONAs a leader in thought and action the Ross School
of Business seeks to provide a cultural experience for its
students in addition to a world-class business education. Art
engages us and helps us to look at the world differently. Art
tempts our creativity. Art inspires new ideas. Art creates a
connection between the establishment and the experimental.
The Ross School of Business has acquired an impressive collection of art which consists of over 145 contemporary works on paper including abstracts, representational works and landscapes. The collection focuses on pieces by noted contemporary artists from around the world and includes work by Helen Frankenthaler, Hung Liu, Robert Motherwell, Elizabeth Murray, Robert Rauschenberg, Ed Ruscha, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, Frank Stella and Fred Wilson. This significant collection reflects the issues and concerns in today's world. The presentation of this work as part of the everyday life of the school's community reflects our value of the importance of art in the environment. The collection was started in 1995 in celebration of the School's 75th anniversary by alumnus Tom Porter, MBA '67. Porter has been very active with the school as an adjunct faculty member, member of our Corporate Advisory Board and the 2001 recipient of the Bert F. Wertman Alumni Service Award. Interested visitors are encouraged to pick up an "Art on View" information packet at the Executive Residence Reception Lobby. |
