International Business Research Strategies

Step 5 - Identify any restrictions on trade, including tariff levels and non-tariff barriers to trade (i.e. import quotas, Voluntary Export Restraints, regulations and standards).

The fifth step in the international business plan is to identify the barriers placed on trade with the potential new market. Trade barriers can significantly increase the cost of exporting and therefore need to be accounted for in your international business plan. Trade barriers include tariffs, import quotas, export restrictions, product standards and other non-tariff trade barriers.
