Balance of Payments (International Monetary Fund)

This database summarizes, for a specific period, the economic transactions of an economy with the rest of the world. It reports total goods, services, factor income, and current transfers an economy receives from or provides to the rest of the world as well as capital transfers and changes in each economy's external financial claims and liabilities. This database contains time series data from 1948.

This database is available to all Ann Arbor UM users.

BankScope

This database provides detailed current and historical financial data plus additional information on 27,600 banks worldwide.

Technical Notes: The export/download function is designed to work best from Internet Explorer. It will work from Netscape but you may encounter browser-related problems.

Bloomberg

This database includes current and historical price data on all kinds of securities, including stocks (equities), bonds, currencies and others. Also included are news stories, indices, charts and technical indicators.

Choices 3

This database provides data on the demographic, psychographic and media use characteristics of users of products, brands and services.

Compact D/SEC

Provides access to financial and other information contained within Annual Reports, Proxy Statements, and 10-K/20-F filings for over 12,000 public US companies. The data is presented in a series of CD-ROM discs with most discs containing the last 10 years of annual and the last 8 years of quarterly information. Library has: Jan. 1988; July 1990 - July 2006.

Access Method: Available only on a standalone computer in Kresge Library

Datastream

This database provides worldwide current and historical financial and economic data, as well as a reporting/charting interface. Some time series date back to 1950. Equity information covers from approximately 1973 to present. Office access is available for Ross Faculty and PhDs. Please contact Todd Elkins at tle@umich.edu for details.

DemographicsNow

DemographicsNow breaks down Census data and other statistical information such as demographic, income, and expenditure data by various geographic levels, including state, county, zip code area, and census tract. Available reports include summaries, comparisons, rankings, and maps. Can be used to develop business and marketing plans.


Direction of Trade Statistics (International Monetary Fund)

The Direction of Trade Statistics provides critical data on the value of merchandise exports and imports between each country and all its trading partners. It reports total bilateral and multilateral exports and imports aggregated at national or regional group level. This database contains time series data from 1980.

Dun & Bradstreet's Million Dollar Database

This database provides information on over 1,250,000 public and private companies. Each company has at least one million or more in sales, 20 or more total employees or 50 or more employees per branch. Searchable by corporate name, industry, geographic location, size and key executive names.

InfoTech Trends

This database provides market research data on the information technology industry, covering such areas as computers, software, the Internet and communications. Use this database to find market share, forecast sales, shipment data and other market statistics.


International Financial Statistics (IFS)

This database contains approximately 32,000 time series covering more than 200 countries and areas and includes all series appearing on the IFS Country Pages; exchange rate series for all Fund member countries, plus Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles; major Fund accounts series; and most other world, area, and country series from the IFS World Tables. Data can be exported in Microsoft Excel, CSV, Tab delimited, HTML formats.


Orbis

A replacement for the Amadeus database, Orbis has information about 40 million companies, including 18 million European companies from 46 countries, 16 million US and Canadian companies, 6.5 million South and Central American companies, 1.3 million Japanese companies, 300,000 Chinese companies, and 90,000 African companies. Orbis includes information about 30,000 banks and 8,000 insurance companies.

Provides industry sector analysis, research, trends and statistics for 29 different industries including: alternative, renewable and conventional energy; automotive; biotechnology; health care; outsourcing & offshoring; real estate; telecommunications; supply chain and more. Content is updated weekly.

Reference USA

White- and yellow-pages directory listings for all U.S. residences and businesses, supplemented with government information from the Bureau of the Census, etc. Searchable by ZIP code, SIC codes, number of employees, etc.

SDC Platinum

This database lets you access Securities Data Company's online databases of financial transactions. It enables you to identify comparable transactions, monitor markets and industries, and prospect for new business. SDC databases currently include: Venture Expert, Mergers & Acquisitions, New Issues and Joint Ventures.

Sports Business Research Network

This database contains annual and some monthly statistics as well as other material for 63 sports.


TableBase

This database contains tabular data on companies, industries, products and demographics. Tables include market share, rankings, forecasts, shipments, output, consumption, users, imports, exports, capacity, etc. Over 25,000 tables added per year.


Thomson ONE Banker

Formerly referred to as Thomson Analytics, this database includes market data and extensive company financial and related information. Use to research company fundamentals and statistics, do peer analysis, identify companies that meet desired criteria, and easily use Excel to retrieve current and historical information. Worldwide company coverage.

Thomson Research

This database features in depth forecasts and analysis covering more than 30,000 companies based on research reports from over 980 leading firms. The company record includes Excel spreadsheet financials (current and 10 year historical), SEC filings, price and earnings data, Extel Overview Report, WorldScope Report and full SEC report.

Technical Notes: Works only with Internet Explorer 6.0 or Netscape 6.2 and higher.

Webstract

This database is used to access S&P/DRI databases, including the International Monetary Fund's International Financial Statistics. IFS covers worldwide country economic data, with substantial historical coverage. UM Constituents can download Webstract.
