The MAP student team was assigned a project to study the business process innovations at the hospital and identify areas for improvement, especially in the context of their design plans, of ultra-low cost facilities.

The student team studied the current business model of NH hospitals and developed a deeper understanding of their process innovations in healthcare. The student team identified four areas for further efficiency improvement within the hospital. These areas are the phlebotomy process, teleradiology, ultrasound, and insurance claim workflow. The team delivered actionable recommendation for NH hospitals to further improve efficiency in these areas to meet the needs of an ultra-low cost health care design.

"This experience gave us great insight on how the skills we've learned over the past year — the operational and statistical tools — can really make a difference and add value to the sponsors and the people they are trying to serve."
Jessica Skinner // MBA '13

"Your students did a great job in giving different perspective to our teams approach to low cost health care. They directed our attention to the process more than the price of procurement which will have major impact on the cost of delivery. NH believes that affordable health care will only happen if we concentrate on the process protocol and price. We are looking forward to working with your students from the C.K. Prahalad Initiative."
Dr. Devi Shetty // Founder, Chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospitals, Bangalore
