Accommodations for Persons with Disabilities

SPRING COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES
FRIDAY, APRIL 29, 2005

GRADUATING STUDENTS: Graduating students with disabilities who plan to participate in the Ross School of Business Spring Commencement Exercises and need assistance through reserved parking and /or require handicapped access to Crisler Arena, should contact Lynnette Iannace at liannace@umich.edu to make those arrangements.

A reserved parking area for graduating students with disabilities will be made available near the tunnel entrance of Crisler Arena, located on the north side of the Arena and reached by entering the main public parking area.

Those who wish to sit with their classmates should enter Crisler Arena through the tunnel entrance. Ushers will be available to assist graduates into Crisler Arena and in locating the proper seating area. Handicapped accessible restroom facilities are located around the concourse level.

Graduates and candidates who use wheelchairs will be able to access the stage for recognition during the ceremony via a ramp.

GUESTS AND VISITORS: Guests and visitors who are disabled, including mobility impairments due to health conditions or frailty, may park in a reserved area located between Michigan Stadium and Crisler Arena. This reserved parking area can be reached by driving through gate of Michigan Stadium. Gate 9 is located along Keech Street, which runs between Main and Green Streets. Staff will be available at and inside Gate 9 to direct vehicles toward Crisler Arena, where guests with disabilities may be dropped off, and the appropriate parking areas. Gate 9 will open at 5:00pm. Personnel will also be available to direct and assist people into Crisler Arena. Guests who use wheelchairs or Amigo carts or who cannot climb stairs will be seated along the inner concourse of Crisler Arena. Due to space constraints, only one other individual may remain with the wheelchair or cart user in this special seating area. Wheelchair accessible restroom facilities are located near the entrance.

Persons with hearing impairments may ask an usher to direct them to the reserved seating area near the graduation platform where the sign language interpreter will be stationed during the program.

For additional information, please contact Lynnette Iannace at liannace@umich.edu
