The History of Global Blue
In the fall of 1984, Professor C.K. Prahalad presented a lecture on the evolving global
economy to a large group of MBA students at the Business School. During the lecture, he pointed
to the breadth and depth of Michigans international alumni community and urged students to
take full advantage of this valuable resource. Inspired by his words, a group of students got
together to explore the possibility of establishing a formal network of domestic and
international alumni and students from the Ross School of Business.
During a brainstorming session, Roxanne Jackman (MBA 85) coined the name "Global Blue" to describe this network. The first Global Blue Rally was held in the spring of 1985. The Rally is now an annual spring tradition for students graduating from the MBA program.
