Supporting Michigan

A Commitment to the Future

In 1924, when Edmund Ezra Day became the first dean of the new University of Michigan Business School, the world was a very different place. Today, satellite technology, wireless communications, emerging economies and the global marketplace require us to become interconnected with the rest of the world in ways Dean Day could never have anticipated.

As a recognized leader in business education and research, the Stephen M. Ross School of Business is preparing the students of today to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Today's Ross School of Business students are engaged, participatory, practical and proactive. Programs like the Samuel Zell and Robert H. Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies and the Multidisciplinary Action Projects (MAP) give students exposure to real-world challenges and opportunities. The Ross School's global perspective challenges students to look beyond the familiar, to make a difference and to become confident catalysts for change in an often uncertain world. Many students also devote their time and talents to hands-on community service projects like Habitat for Humanity and to socially concerned student organizations such as Net Impact.

Developing leaders. As one of the world’s top business schools, Michigan is dedicated to developing the future leadership of global business. For example:

Cleveland Christophe Cleveland Christophe (MBA 1967)

Managing partner of TSG Capital Group, an investment company specializing in financing minority entrepreneurs: "Michigan provides intense opportunities to develop and practice leadership."

Michael Jandernoa (BBA 1972)

Chairman of the Board of Perrigo Co., the nation’s largest manufacturer of non-prescription pharmaceutical and nutritional products for the store brand and contract manufacturing markets: "The University of Michigan is uniquely positioned for important collaborations between groundbreaking work in the life sciences and entrepreneurial studies. The Business School is a very exciting place to be right now."
Michael Jandernoa

Susan Bernstein Susan Bernstein (MBA 2002)

Currently a consultant with McKinsey & Company, is the former founder of a consulting practice servicing arts and education clients: "The Business School sets an expectation that its graduates will become thoughtful, concerned, caring leaders who are committed to their community and the larger world - [this is] why I chose Michigan."

To continue this tradition of responsible leadership and excellence, we must recruit and retain the best faculty, recruit and educate outstanding students, and offer an innovative, varied, and robust learning environment.

Making a Critical Difference

The entire Ross School community has a role to play in developing leaders that can meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Your gift to Michigan really does make a difference. With your support, we can offer scholarship opportunities to attract the very best students. We can provide resources for innovative programs such as International MAP or the Yaffe Center for Persuasive Communications. We can build state-of-the-art facilities such as the John R. and Georgene M. Tozzi Electronic Business and Finance Center.
