Part-time MBA Admissions

To apply to the Ross School of Business, we ask that you submit a variety of materials for us to best assess your qualifications for our Part-time MBA programs.  Below is a list of the application components we require. Each piece of the application plays an integral role in the overall admission evaluation; no single piece of the application is weighted more heavily than another. Please note that ALL materials need to be received by the posted deadline for the round in which you apply.

  • Current resume
  • GMAT results from test taken no earlier than September 15, 2004
  • If international, TOEFL results from test taken no earlier than September 15, 2007
  • Undergraduate and post-graduate transcripts
  • Two letters of recommendation (must be submitted online)
  • Essays
  • Nonrefundable U.S. $200 application fee
  • Interview (after application is submitted and by invitation only)

In order to build a strong and diverse class, we look for applicants who possess a number of key characteristics:

  • Strong intellectual ability as measured by GMAT and academic record
  • Leadership, initiative, and impact as evidenced through professional achievements, extracurricular activities, recommendation letters, and personal essays
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills as demonstrated through recommendation letters and essays
  • Clear goals and rationale for pursuing an MBA as demonstrated through essays
  • Fit with the Ross approach to management education as demonstrated through essays

Additional items:

  • Traditional business background not required
  • Individual evaluation occurs within context of larger applicant pool
  • No “formula” or “cutoff” determines a candidate’s outcome
  • There are no prerequisite courses for admission
  • Due to the analytical rigor of the program, it is expected that students have a working knowledge of college-level mathematics, including basic calculus.  If you have not had this coursework, we recommend that you take a course that emphasizes business mathematics prior to beginning the program.  If you have basic math knowledge but need a refresher, you may want to take our Quantitative Skills Workshop offered each August.
