To apply to the Ross School of Business, we ask that you submit a variety of materials for us to best assess your qualifications for our Full-time MBA program.  Below is a list of the application components we require. Each piece of the application plays an integral role in the overall admission evaluation; no single piece of the application is weighted more heavily than another. Please note that ALL materials need to be received by the posted deadline for the round in which you apply.

  • Current resume
  • GMAT or GRE - test scores are valid for five years from the date you took the test to the application deadline date.
  • If international, TOEFL or IELTS - test scores are valid for two years from the date you took the test to the application deadline date.
  • Undergraduate and post-graduate transcripts (and degree documents if applicable).  Before applying, students must complete the equivalent of a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree.
  • Two letters of recommendation (must be submitted online)
  • Essays
  • Nonrefundable U.S. $200 application fee
  • Interview (after application is submitted and by invitation only)

In order to build a strong and diverse class, we look for applicants who possess a number of key characteristics:

  • Strong intellectual ability as measured by GMAT and academic record
  • Leadership, initiative, and impact as evidenced through professional achievements, extracurricular activities, recommendation letters, and personal essays
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills as demonstrated through recommendation letters and essays
  • Clear goals and rationale for pursuing an MBA as demonstrated through essays
  • Fit with the Ross approach to management education as demonstrated through essays

Additional items:

  • Traditional business background not required
  • Individual evaluation occurs within context of larger applicant pool
  • No “formula” or “cutoff” determines a candidate’s outcome
  • There are no prerequisite courses for admission
  • Due to the analytical rigor of the program, it is expected that students have a working knowledge of college-level mathematics, including basic calculus.  If you have not had this coursework, we recommend that you take a course that emphasizes business mathematics prior to beginning the program.  If you have basic math knowledge but need a refresher, you may want to take our Quantitative Skills Workshop prior to the start of classes.

In preparation for your application, you may want to consider taking the Career LeaderTM Self-Assessment. This online tool can help you identify potential career paths based on your skills, interests, and priorities. It is widely used by the top business schools to help current students map out their career paths.
