International Applicants
Undergraduate Degree
In addition to the requirements for the application for admission, international applicants are required to submit copies of both your academic record and the diploma or other document indicating the date and conferral of your degree. If the original language of the academic record and diploma is not English, a certified English translation must accompany the original document. The translation should be literal rather than interpretive. If a certified copy of the original transcript is submitted, it must be certified by the institution from which the degree was received. Documents notarized by a Notary Public are not acceptable. Credentials must include the following information: Years of attendance, courses taken, grades received, and the degree, diploma, or certificate awarded and date of the award.
TOEFL
If your native language is not English, you must demonstrate competence in English by a score of 600
(250, computer-based) or higher on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Unless not given at your test site, you must also take the writing test now included in the examination. TOEFL should be taken no later, and preferably earlier, than January of the year in which you wish to be admitted. TOEFL scores are valid for two years. You should arrange to have your scores on the test reported to us directly by the Educational Testing Service. The University of Michigan code number is 9585 for the MAcc program. Please note that students from other countries who have earned a degree from a United States school are exempt from the TOEFL requirement. (Those who have worked in the United States full-time for two years or more, or who hold a degree from an institution in which English is the language of the instruction may also waive the TOEFL requirement.)
