Who Should Apply?

At Ross, we are committed to an approach to business that goes beyond studying cases. We look for students who want to work on real-world assignments, ranging from strategic analysis and supply chain audits to supply chain design issues and distribution challenges. We seek diversity in the professional backgrounds of our admitted students, just as we do in other parts of our applicants’ profiles. Experience in the areas related to manufacturing, operations, logistics, or supply chain may be considered a plus but is not required.

Work Experience

We do not require a minimum number of years work experience prior to entering the Master of Supply Chain Management program. We do expect that most of our admitted students will have at least some work experience prior joining the program. We evaluate work experience not in terms of quantity but in terms of quality—the impact the applicant has had on their organization and his or her natural leadership qualities. Those who join us at an earlier stage in their career should be able to demonstrate this in their application—what they will be able to contribute to the Master of Supply Chain Management experience, as well as have superb academic credentials and the maturity and self-confidence to handle the intensity of the program.

Next: Paid Summer Internship

“Ross is a great school because it’s tied very closely to industry’s needs.”

Samar Sarma’s work in the technical side of supply chain management fit well with his engineering background. But to diversify his career options he knew a business degree was his next logical step.

“With supply chain, there's a certain level of in-depth competencies that need to be brought, which could never be drawn out in an MBA program or a one-course SCM program. Because supply chain has such a broad base, one can’t do it justice in a single course or a single semester.”
