Curriculum

Flexible, Fundamental and Applicable for a Lifetime

Thoughtfully designed to accommodate working professionals, Michigan’s Ross School of Business Evening MBA program provides a balanced curriculum for optimum results. Its foundation, referred to as “The Core,” provides extensive training in 10 fundamental business areas: Financial Accounting; Microeconomics; Business Statistics; Human Behavior and Organization; Finance; Marketing Management; Management Accounting; Operations Management; Computer & Information Systems; and Corporate Strategy.

The Core encompasses 30 of the programs 60 credits. Remaining credits are earned through elective coursework that enables you to apply the Core’s fundamentals to practical, real-world issues through collaborative projects and detailed case analyses. The program offers more than 100 electives within the School’s 12 academic departments. Elective courses range from seven to 14 weeks, and can be taken in conjunction with Core classes, provided certain pre-requisites are met. Please note that you will have the option of taking courses in the order you choose and at the pace you choose, or you can become part of a cohort in the first year which will give you the opportunity to get to know a group of students better.

This mix and flexibility enables you to keep current with innovative topics and faculty research, while solidifying your grasp of essential business theories. You may take up to 10 credits outside of Ross Business School to construct a degree program that focuses on relevant business issues, including healthcare, law, or public policy, without having to pursue a full degree in a second subject area. The result is the rare opportunity to co-create your educational experience, while being challenged to take risks and pursue a lifelong intellectual adventure. At Michigan, you are not the recipient of a homogenized MBA; you are an active participant in a customized educational process.
