Managing Your Career

Career Resources

The Executive MBA Program provides resources to help you reach your career potential.  You need to present yourself effectively in the competitive market for jobs and promotions.  New in 2009, the Ross School EMBA Program in conjunction with our Office of Career Development have developed a customized approach to EMBA Career Services.  These services build on the foundation of our Professional Development Program to provide a menu of career enhancing services that include:

Self-Assessment Tools
Assessment tools include an online 360 evaluation on leadership skills and other diagnostic tools to understand your strengths, interests and opportunities for growth.

Company Research Resources
The Kresge Business Library at Michigan offers a wealth of database offerings and resources to help assess opportunities.

Coaching and Counseling
One-on-one coaching and counseling, both in-person and virtually, helps both current students and alumni of the EMBA Program.  Resources include resume counseling, career search techniques, preparation in effective interview styles and focus on your personal brand.

Workshops and Panels
We offer a broad array of workshops to EMBAs, beginning with an overall introduction to career resources through the Ross Office of Career Development (including specific services for EMBAs).  These workshops include resume writing, cover letters, interviewing, negotiations, use of search firms and networking.  Workshops are traditionally held during the second year of the program and may be tailored to smaller constituencies as needed.

Job Postings
Ross maintains an extensive network of job postings for current students as well as alumni.  Please note that access to the fulltime MBA program's on-campus recruiting is not currently available, as companies are typically recruiting for entry-level positions.  (For the typical EMBA candidate with 15 or more years of work experience, recruiting for more experienced candidates is traditionally focused more on networking and developing relationships.)

Alumni Directories
The EMBA Program maintains its own database of alumni of the program with current employment history and work experience.  In addition, the Ross School maintains on online directory of the nearly 40,000 alumni of all Ross degree programs.  This database is searchable to find colleagues working in specific industries, companies, functional as well as geographic areas.

As a Ross EMBA, our goal is to provide you with the range of knowledge, skills and experience to give you the ability and confidence needed to attain your goals, whatever they may be.  Whether you are looking to move within your current organization, a new organization or explore an entrepreneurial opportunity, a Ross degree will provide you the skills and knowledge to succeed.

What drew me to the Ross School of Business was its worldwide reputation as a recognized leader on the cutting edge of business education and progressive thought.  The day MBA grooms the leading business minds of tomorrow, while the Executive MBA program sharpens the leading business minds of today.
