Program Format

Two cohort classes begin the program each year, one class beginning in August, a second class beginning in January.  Targeted profile and format of the two cohorts are identical.  The twenty-month curriculum combines the intensity of on-campus classes with the convenience of distance-learning at home.  Each academic year begins with a ten-day residency in Ann Arbor.  Then, approximately once-a-month (see right), you'll spend a two- or three-day residency in Ann Arbor, typically from 8:00AM Friday morning to 5:30PM Saturday evening.  At the mid-point of the program - the start of the second academic year - you'll come to campus for another ten-day residency, followed by more once-a-month weekend residencies.  The residency format is scheduled to maximize interaction with faculty and peers while at the same time provide convenience in schedules.  Classes rotate on an 8-week schedule throughout the program.

Technology

Between residencies, teams engage in interactive Internet-based learning and team collaboration.  Candidates will make use of the latest in distance learning technologies which highlights their intense face-to-face classroom experiences. Beginning with the Fall 2008 entering class, the program has changed to an Apple environment providing dual-boot laptops (MS Windows is also fully supported).  Customized Apple MacBook Pro computers and iPod Touch handhelds keep participants connected to the program.  Lectures are provided as iTunes video podcasts, providing excellent portability.  Program and course websites keep participants abreast of schedules and deliverables, and an enterprise-level collaboration suite helps teams and individuals stay connected.

This combination of on-line and on-campus learning allows greater flexibility for candidates to maintain their own schedule and work-family balance.  Typical workload will require participants to commit 15-20 hours per week to their studies, although this may vary among individuals and by course.
