The EMBA program's temporary home!

When New York City real estate developer Stephen M. Ross, BBA '62, provided a gift of $100 million to the University of Michigan Business School last year, the short-term impact of the donation was felt immediately.

Ross' gift, the largest donation ever to a U.S. business school, will cover a major portion of an ambitious facilities project to create new and renovated space that supports the school's education mission.  In order to accommodate this major construction project, the EMBA Program along with the school's Executive Education Center, have moved to a new facility through early summer 2009.  The EMBA Program will move back on-campus in July 2009.

The Executive MBA Program office and classroom facilities are now located in the new Michigan Information Technology Center Building (MITC) located approximately 1.5 miles south of Central Campus.  The MITC building, which opened in March 2005, is a state-of-the-art education and conference center with ultra-modern equipment and connectivity.  Facilities are designed to meet a variety of needs of executives - from lectures to small-group discussions.  All spaces enhance the educational experience and allow you to learn in a comfortable, welcoming environment.

Services offered in the facility include:

  • Next generation, high speed Internet connectivity
  • Advanced multimedia/video conferencing
  • Accelerated collaborative computing
  • Well-appointed executive board and breakout rooms
  • Adaptable demonstration area
  • Accommodations for meetings from 6 to 145 participants

Executive MBA Classes are Taught in One of Five Fully Equipped Classrooms, Including

One theatre-style classroom - designed for lecture-style learning, accommodating up to 65 people.
Four flat classrooms, appropriate for workshops and group discussions, accommodating from 30-45 people in each room.
More than ten dedicated breakout rooms, which can accommodate up to six people each.

Rooms are ergonomically designed for comfort and practicality: comfortable chairs that swivel and tilt, proper writing surfaces, and excellent lighting, visibility, and acoustics.

Every classroom is equipped with electronic projection systems, flipcharts, and standard office supplies. State of-the-art large-screens, high resolution projection units are built into the theatre-style classroom. Additional standard equipment includes VCRs, and computers with CD-ROM and complete wireless Internet access. These features make the rooms ideally suited for large screen presentations, sales and educational programs, and teleconferencing.

Residential Accommodations

During residential sessions,  candidates will stay at the Four Points by Sheraton, a full service hotel located three blocks from MITC, and within a short walking distance of Briarwood Shopping Mall.  This facility provides dedicated and distinctive lodging for the executives who attend both Executive Education and EMBA programs at the Ross School of Business. This facility will be able to attend to details 24 hours a day from check-in to check-out.  Their goal is to ensure that your stay in Ann Arbor is comfortable and enjoyable.  Business facilities and services, including wireless access, printing, and copying services are included.  Shuttle service to the classroom facility is provided.

In the evenings, you are invited to relax in the spacious lobby or take advantage of a full health and fitness center including indoor/outdoor pool. In the evening, there are often organized activities, or you may take the around-town shuttle service anywhere in Ann Arbor.  Downtown Ann Arbor is only five minutes away, including the University of Michigan Central Campus and the athletic and performing arts venues.

When the program moves back to the main Business School facility on central campus in July 2009, participants will be housed in the Executive Residence, a residential facility that is part of the business school complex.
