A World-Renowned Institution
Year after year, the University of Michigan consistently ranks among the world’s greatest universities. Few other institutions on earth have as strong a reputation for academic excellence, athletic achievement, and diversity of opportunity. “Go Blue” is a familiar cheer that transcends cultures, continents, and economies.

Ann Arbor – A Dynamic, Cosmopolitan Hub
Ann Arbor is a robust and intellectually vibrant city just 25 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport, making it easily accessible whether you are traveling from the west coast or the Far East.
Rich with history and tradition and bursting with modern vitality, Ann Arbor offers a classic college-town experience in a dynamic and diverse setting. Ann Arbor is a sophisticated yet warm community whose fabric is formed by people, ideas, and cultures from around the world. Some 16 percent of Ann Arbor’s population is foreign-born; 20 percent speak a language other than English at home.
Fine dining restaurants along downtown’s Main Street feature leading chefs and inventive cuisine. And comfortable pubs and ethnic eateries offer options for every budget and taste.
Ann Arbor is a city at the forefront of Michigan’s economic rebirth. It houses leading companies in alternative energy and clean technology, life sciences and healthcare, and automotive research, development, and manufacturing. With the City’s, University’s, and Michigan Ross’ extensive resources for entrepreneurship, Ann Arbor is also a highly regarded area for innovation and entrepreneurial activities.
Sports, Recreation, and Arts
Ann Arbor culture embodies all of the exuberance that comes with a Big Ten college town as well as unexpected refinement that comes with big city life.
Michigan Stadium, a.k.a. "The Big House," is the focal point of Ann Arbor – and often the entire country – on Football Saturdays in the fall. Ann Arbor enjoys an international reputation for its robust music and performing arts scene: The University Musical Society brings acts such as the Martha Graham Dance Company, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and Wynton Marsalis to campus, and Ann Arbor also hosts the only U.S. residency of England’s Royal Shakespeare Company. The recently renovated University of Michigan Museum of Art features dramatic galleries with more than 18,000 works, and Michigan Ross itself houses an impressive
art collection consisting of more than 200 curated contemporary works. Started in 1995, the collection consists of gifts from alumni and friends of Michigan Ross.
For those who love sports, neighboring Detroit’s professional sports scene includes baseball’s Tigers, football’s Lions, basketball’s Pistons, and hockey’s Red Wings. And those who love the great outdoors can bike along Ann Arbor’s more than 60 miles of scenic trails, kayak down the Huron River, get lost in the Nichols Arboretum, or take advantage of Ann Arbor’s many golf courses.
