Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I want to attend
Discover Ross as a way to visit the campus and learn more about
the program. However, I also want to apply by the first round
application deadline (October 10th) which falls prior to this
event. What should I do?
A: While visiting campus
prior to applying can help you assess whether the Ross MBA program
is the right fit for you, we know that it may be difficult to do so
before the Round I application deadline, or that you may prefer to
attend Discover Ross. If that's the case, you can learn
about Ross through other resources:
1) Meet a Ross representative at one of our
information sessions or at an
MBA fair around the world
2) Connect with a
Ross Ambassador (a current student)
If you do decide to visit campus before the Round 1 deadline, we
encourage you to take advantage of our
Class Visit & Tour Program. These run Monday through Thursday
(we don't have classes on Fridays).
Q: If I don't get accepted
to Discover Ross does that mean that I won't get into school?
A:
Admission to Discover Ross in no way reflects a candidate's
potential for full-time MBA admission, nor is the weekend a
prescreening process for full-time selection. We encourage all
candidates to not only apply to the weekend, but to apply for
full-time admission whether or not invited to the weekend.
Q: Where will I stay during
Discover Ross?
A: Special rates have been
negotiated at the Four Points Sheraton for Thursday, October 30 and
Friday, October 31. Once accepted, the school is happy to help you
pair up with another prospective student, if you would like to share
a room. Details for the hotel are below. Please mention Discover
Ross when making your reservation.
Four Points Sheraton
3200 Boardwalk

$95 per night
Q: How do I get to the
University of Michigan?
A: If you are flying, please
book your tickets to Detroit International Airport (DTW). Detroit is
a Northwest Airlines hub, but is also serviced by most other major
airlines. The airport is a 30 minute drive from the University of
Michigan campus. Taxis from the airport to Ann Arbor typically cost
~ $50-$60. The
Ann Arbor Airport Shuttle rates run slightly cheaper.
A third alternative is the
Michigan Flyer. This shuttle services Ann
Arbor at the Four Points Sheraton and costs $15 one way.
Q: Should I consider renting
a car for the weekend?
A: For your convenience, we
will provide shuttle service to Ross and back each day from the Four
Points Sheraton. We will also provide taxi vouchers for any
additional transportation needs to and from Discover Ross events.
Please note that the voucher may only be redeemed in Ann Arbor.
If you drive or rent a
car, we encourage you to leave your car at the hotel, as parking at
the University of Michigan is extremely limited. However, should you
need to drive to campus, parking validation will be provided for the
Forest Avenue Parking Structure (located at the corner of Williard
and South Forest).
Q: How do I find my way
around Ross?
A: Maps will be provided
when you check in at the registration table and signs
will be posted at all events.
Q: What is the dress code
for Discover Ross?
A: Most prospective students
wear business casual clothing for Discover Ross. Formal attire is
not required for any event. Weather in Ann Arbor can be fairly
unpredictable in late October, early-November, so please come
prepared to dress for both warm and chilly temperatures (layers are
a great idea). Your best bet is to check the weather before you
leave for Ann Arbor and pack accordingly.
Q: How much money should I
bring for the weekend?
A: Please bring enough money
to cover your hotel, airport transportation and dinner on Saturday
evening (should you choose to stay an extra night). All other costs
are on us!
Q: What if I have more
questions?
A: Not a problem! Please
send us an email at mfsiegel@umich.edu.
