Admission Criteria

Transfer admission is extremely selective.  We evaluate all applicants according to the same criteria, but we strongly consider the strength of the college you currently attend, including its overall rank and average ACT and SAT scores, to create a fair basis of comparison with our applicants at UM.  In general, we're looking for:

  • Excellent grades in rigorous college courses.
  • Strong quantitative reasoning skills, shown by good grades in demanding quantitative courses.
  • Participation in extracurricular activities and/or part-time employment, emphasizing quality over quantity.
  • Coherent, well-written application essays that honestly reflect your ideas, aspirations, and experiences.
