Course Registration
Registration Information for Spring, Summer and Fall 2012: Evening MBAs
NEW! Evening Academic Advising Hours are available: schedule a 'Graduate Student Degree Audit' appointment to find available evening hours on 3/29 and 4/3. Be sure to watch the location of your appointment carefully. And, as always, Academic Advisors are happy to 'meet' with students via phone as well, so feel free to schedule a time during regular business hours, and then let us know how to reach you at the scheduled time.
▼ Course Registration: Get Ready
Q. How do I find out what courses are being
offered and when?
A. Starting March 1, you can view the full University schedule
(including Ross and non-Ross courses) on
Wolverine Access, or via the
Office of the Registrar -
this site has a helpful CSV file version that can be downloaded and filtered
for Ross classes with sections numbered
450-479 to view those classes
available for Evening MBA students.
Q: How many credits can I plan to take each term?
A: Evening MBA students can register for 7.5 credits each in Fall and
Winter full terms, and 4.5 credits each in Spring and Summer half terms. You
may request an increase up to 9 credits in Fall or Winter full terms and up
to 7 credits in Spring or Summer half terms according to the following
guidelines:
- It may NOT be your first term in the program;
- You must be in good academic standing, for which we expect at least 80% of your credit hours at PS level or higher;
- Winter 2012 Admits who request a credit limit increase for Spring, Summer or Fall will not be approved until ALL their Winter 2012 grades are received.
- The additional hours (above 7.5 in Fall/Winter or above 4.5 in Spring or Summer half terms) may NOT be added before specified dates. We do this to allow some time after registration opens for all students to have an equal opportunity to register.
Q. I want to request an increase; how do I do so and when will it be
applied to my registration?
A. To request an increase, simply email
rossacadservices@umich.edu
from your "uniqname@umich.edu" email account and let us know your name,
student ID#, the # of credits you would like to be approved to take, and the
term. You can request multiple increases (Spring, Summer and Fall) in the
same email. Increases will be applied by Academic Services according to the
following timeline:
- Wednesday, April 4: Spring/Summer credit increase date for Pre-Winter 2012 Admits.
- Wednesday, April 25: Spring/Summer credit increase date for students admitted in Winter 2012. Increase is pending receipt and review of all Winter 2012 term grades.
Fall 2012 Credit Limit Increases:
- Wednesday, April 4: Fall credit increase date for students with 35 CTP or more as of the end of the Winter 2012 term.
- Friday, August 10: Fall credit increase date for students with less than 35 CTP as of the end of the Winter 2012 term.
▼ Core Requirements: Get Set
Q: What are my core requirements?
A: Review the
core curriculum for
Evening MBA students.
Q: How do I know which core requirements I have or haven’t completed?
A: Review your Academic Requirements on
Wolverine Access to see a live
degree audit of your record, or
schedule a
Graduate Student Degree Audit appointment with an Academic Advisor. Advisors are happy to
talk with Evening MBAs via phone - simply schedule the time online and then
email our office to let us know how to reach you at that time. Dual Degree students will
need to schedule an "MBA Dual Degree Advising/Issues" appointment with an
advisor to review their requirements.
Q. Can I still waive core?
A. Yes. Review
the
Core
Course Waiver information (updated each spring) for details. Waiver exams
are typically offered in the summer (July/August for the Communication Waiver,
and late August for OMS 501 and FIN 551).
▼ General Registration: Go!
Q. Do I need to use backpack
before registration opens?
A. It is recommended that you do, but it is not required. Starting March
21, you can start to add classes to your "Backpack" in
Wolverine Access. Backpacking
courses allows you to quickly add those classes all at once when your
registration appointment time opens. Be aware that backpacking does not
reserve a seat for you in the class - it is simply a way to put the course
in your "shopping cart" so that you can "check-out" quickly. If a class in
your backpack does not have room available when your registration time
opens, you may have to waitlist yourself, and/or select an alternate open
class at that time.
Q: When is my registration appointment time?
A: The University assigns registration appointment times for graduate
students between March 28 - 30. The times are determined by the
credits completed, and then are randomly assigned. You can view your
assigned time on Wolverine Access
starting March 21.
Q. It's after March 21, but I still can't see my appointment time;
what's up?
A. If you are not taking any classes in Winter 2012, you will not
automatically be assigned a registration appointment time. Instead, you will
need to email the University Registrar’s office on or after March 21
(ro.registration.questions@umich.edu)
and request that they assign you a time. Be sure to include your UM ID# and
your program (EVE MBA).
Q: Do I have to register exactly at my appointment time, and when does
my registration close?
A: You do not need to register exactly at your appointment time, but
some classes will fill quickly, or seats may be opened to non-Ross students
after registration has been open for a week or more, so it is to your
advantage to register soon after your appointment time opens. Once your
appointment time opens, you can continue to make changes until the
drop/add deadlines for that term.
