    1. Review Academic Requirements & Meet with an Advisor: Be sure you're keeping your academic requirements in mind - review your Academic Requirements on Wolverine Access, the degree requirements checklist, and/or make a counseling appointment to review your status.  (*Dual Degree students or students completing an LSA Minor may have additional or different requirements than those listed below. Be sure to check with your advisor!)

      1. Core Courses: The requirements of our three-year BBA program include the following Sophomore sequence:

ECON 102 (4.0) - we strongly recommend that students complete 102 in Fall, but it may be taken in Winter 2010 if space is not available to complete it in Fall 2009. ECON 102 (4.0) - MUST be completed in Winter 2010 if space is not available to complete it in Fall 2009.

Additional non-business coursework to complete degree requirements (e.g., Distribution & Foreign Language). Additional non-business coursework to complete degree requirements (e.g., Distribution & Foreign Language).
        • OMS 301 Waiver: A waiver exam for OMS 301 will be offered on Saturday, December 12, 2009, from 10:00 am-12:00 pm in room R2310. You can now view the 2009 OMS 301 syllabus. An updated Winter 2010 version will be available soon. Students wishing to take the exam should e-mail their section instructor (Professor Morgan - Sections 1,3,4,5 & Professor Yin - Section 2) by noon on Wednesday, December 9. Academic Services will load students into their core courses in early November, therefore you should be able to view your Winter schedule and determine what section you are in at that time. Students are permitted to use a calculator with basic math functions and up to five letter sized "cheat sheets" (both sides of the sheets can be used); no other devices (e.g. laptops, iPods), lecture notes or textbooks are allowed. In addition to the handouts (exam, answer sheet, and tables), students will be able to have a pencil, eraser, cheat sheets and a calculator on the desk during the exam. Everything else must be placed on the floor.

      2. Additional Degree Requirements:
        • Non-U of M Transfer Credits: Review your Academic Requirements ASAP on Wolverine Access to make sure that any summer courses you took off-campus are now showing up on your record.  Contact Academic Services if you have questions regarding transfer credits.
        • You must have a minimum of 45 business credits in order to graduate.
        • You must have a minimum of 54 non-business credits (e.g. LS&A, Engineering, approved Kinesiology courses, etc.).
        • Foreign Language Proficiency for distribution purposes (if you plan to meet one of the BBA distribution requirements with Foreign Language Proficiency): Check your unofficial transcript for notations regarding foreign language. If you have already met foreign language proficiency and it is not yet noted on your unofficial transcript, we need to receive confirmation from the language department. Please request that the language department send confirmation to Academic Services via email: rossacadservices@umich.edu, campus mail: Room E2420, 701 Tappan, or fax: 734-763-8833.
        • Complete 3 of the 4 Distribution Requirements: Foreign Language (4th semester proficiency, see above bullet); Humanities (9 credits); Natural Science and/or MSA (9 credits); Social Science* (9 credits) *Excludes ECON 101 & 102.
        • Business Law (either LHC 305 or 306) is a core course requirement that may be taken at any time during your Junior and Senior years of the BBA program. You will not be pre-enrolled into Business Law at any point in your program, but must complete the requirement in order to graduate.

    2. Check Your Account for Financial Holds:
      1. Review your Student Account status on Wolverine Access to confirm that no Holds (Service Indicators) are in place which would block your registration into classes. Check even if you are sure your statement is okay!
      2. Clear your bills.
      3. Request Student Financial Operations or the cashier to lift your financial hold. This is not done automatically. Call 734-764-7447.

    3. Contact Academic Services if you require schedule accommodation for documented Academic, Athletic, Health or Religious Conflicts: Students who require schedule changes to accommodate dual degree/minor, athletic, medical or religious obligations should submit documentation from authorized medical personnel, religious leader or organization, official coaches if your status as an official student athlete requires such accommodation, or an Academic Advisor indicating that a particular course is required in a certain term in order to complete a student's dual degree or minor. Letters should be submitted to Academic Services and we will make the necessary schedule changes.

    4. Review the Schedule of Classes: On Monday, October 19 the Winter 2010 Schedule of Classes will be viewable on Wolverine Access and the Registrar's website. Students may also utilize the LSA Course Guide (available November 6) in their schedule planning.
      • Check prerequisites: You are responsible for meeting the course prerequisites for classes you elect. Check the Course Descriptions thoroughly for course prerequisites and feel free to reach out to an instructor if you have specific questions.
        • If a prerequisite is listed in the system as a "Course" prerequisite, Wolverine Access will NOT allow you to register for the course unless you have completed the requirements in a prior term. (If you have completed the requirement via waiver, please contact Academic Services for permission to enroll.)
        • If a prerequisite is "Advisory", Wolverine Access will allow you to enroll without having fulfilled the requirement; however, instructors reserve the right to remove you at a later (less convenient) date. Please review prerequisite information CAREFULLY, and contact the instructor/department or Academic Services if you have any questions.

      • Review your core course schedule on Wolverine Access in mid-November. Sophomore BBAs will be pre-enrolled by Academic Services into the following core courses for Winter 2010.

        • ACC 272 = 3.0 credits
        • LHC 250 = 1.5 credits
        • OMS 301 = 3.0 credits

These courses will appear on your schedule in Wolverine Access BEFORE registration opens. Students MAY register for elective courses that conflict with their core, but should be aware of the requirements for resolving course conflicts. If you are unable to change a conflicting core, you may be required to drop the elective course at a later date.

      • Consider Ross elective classes: New this year, Sophomore BBAs may choose to register for select elective classes within the Ross School of Business. (The Ross electives listed below are the ONLY elective courses open for Sophomore BBAs, all other Ross electives are reserved for Junior/Senior BBAs.) In the Winter 2010 term, Sophomore BBAs may consider registering for:
        • BIT 311: Decision Support with Excel (3.0 credits)
        • MO 315: Introduction to Managing Human Capital (3.0 credits)

      • Course Load: A normal full-time course load is about 15 credit hours a term, with a maximum of 18 credits. You must select a minimum of 12 credit hours to be a full-time student. Going below 12 credits makes you a part-time student, which affects financial aid, degree progress, and (for international students) immigration status. To register for fewer than 12 credits in a term, you must request approval from Academic Services.

  2. Review Core Schedule and Backpack: November 16 - 29 (return to top of page)

    1. View your assigned registration appointment time on Wolverine Access: November 16
    2. Review your assigned core course schedule in Wolverine Access: in mid-November Academic Services will pre-register Sophomore BBA students into the three Winter core courses (ACC 272, LHC 250 and OMS 301).
    3. Backpack elective classes: November 16 through assigned registration appointment time.
    4. Wednesday, November 25: Ensure that you have cleared any Financial Holds on your account.

  3. Register for Winter classes: November 30 - January 5 (return to top of page)

    1. Monday, November 30 - Tuesday, December 15: Registration appointment times begin for undergraduate students. Students will be able to add classes via Wolverine Access.

    2. Begin to resolve any course conflicts between core courses and electives: Students who wish to change core sections to accommodate an elective class will need to identify a classmate in another section of the core who is willing to "swap" sections with them. To assist in identifying classmates willing to swap, a CTools site has been created to provide students with a discussion forum. Students will be able to join this site starting Monday, November 16.

UPDATE: Instead of emailing swap requests to Academic Services, students will now submit swap requests using an online survey. The survey can now be accessed here.

NOTE: By completing the above survey, students are committing to making those changes to their schedule. We recommend that students arrange a swap only when they are sure they have a seat in the elective class of their choice. Most Sophomore registration likely won’t begin in Wolverine Access until the first full week of December, and it is risky to plan any swap before actually securing your seat in the desired specific elective course.

To join the CTools site (starting November 16), students will log in to https://CTools.umich.edu. Under "My Worksite", click on "Membership", then "Joinable Sites", and search for "BBA Core Conflicts". Click to "Join" the site. Use the "Discussion" forum to search for other students looking to swap sections.  Once you have identified a swap partner, YOU AND YOUR PARTNER must complete the survey, indicating the following information:

      • Your name, ID #, & UMICH email address
      • Class/section you are currently in
      • Full name of your swap partner
      • Specific class/section you would like to swap into

The survey site will close at 5pm on the last business day before Winter 2010 classes begin (Tuesday, January 5th for Sophomores). We will not accept swap requests after the surveys have closed.

    3. Add/Drop classes & obtain Permissions for closed classes: View the Registration Calendar as well as the Academic Calendar for the specific drop/add deadlines. After the drop/add deadline, you must have your drop/add form signed by Academic Services, and any drop must be accompanied by a completed Drop/Add Verification Form (available online and from Academic Services). For more instructions on modifying your schedule and getting permissions for closed classes:
    4. Be aware of Class Attendance Policies: At the discretion of the instructor, students may be dropped from a class if they do not attend the first class meeting for a once-a-week class, or the first two class meetings for a twice-a-week class. Be sure to review the CTools site for each class for additional attendance guidelines.
